Carr Fire: How to Help

Redding firefighters look on as the Carr Fire moves through the area on July 28, 2018 in Redding.

Over the weekend, the Carr Fire in Shasta County intensified, with nearly 100,000 acres now burned, over 720 homes and 240 other buildings destroyed, and six deaths. Only 20% contained, the firestorm threatens thousands of additional structures as tens of thousands of people in the county have been moved for safety. Governor Brown declared a state of emergency for the area and federal aid has been approved. Several years of low rain and high heat have dried the plants and soil, a function of climate change which is heightening fire danger.

The community is coming together under #CarrFire#StrongerThanCarr and mobilizing philanthropic and volunteer support.
