In January 2017, California’s three leading philanthropy-supporting organizations — SoCal Grantmakers (SCG), Northern California Grantmakers (NCG), and Catalyst of San Diego & Imperial Counties — officially announced our statewide alliance, Philanthropy California.
Philanthropy California was a long time in the making. For years, our three regional organizations collaborated on individual projects and programs, but had not developed a strategic approach for statewide collaboration. When NCG and SCG brought on new CEOs who both had board support to form a statewide alliance, the work to bring our philanthropic networks began.
Today, Philanthropy California strives to unite philanthropy, government, and community partners across California to address the most pressing issues impacting our state’s communities. Our alliance serves as a unified voice for our state’s philanthropic sector and works across various issues, including climate and disaster preparedness and resilience, census and redistricting, the California budget, and more.
Philanthropy California believes that by bringing our philanthropic networks together, we can share our regional expertise and connections, and build a more equitable future for California. Together, we can be a powerful force for change on issues that affect us all, in California and beyond.
We invite you to help Philanthropy CA move forward with your ideas and involvement. If you have any suggestions, requests, or opportunities for Philanthropy California, please share them with us via our contact form.
