Restaurant Workers Community Foundation established a Restaurant Workers COVID19 Crisis Relief Fund to: 1) Immediately direct money to organizations leading on-the-ground efforts in the restaurant community, 2) To bolster our impact investing budget to provide zero-interest loans to businesses to maintain payroll during closure or re-open once this crisis has passed; 3) To establish a relief fund for individual workers facing economic hardships or health crises as a direct result of COVID-19. Fortunately, Philanthropy California has a strong network of partners who are already providing research, policy analysis, and real-time context of the shifting landscape in D.C., which the philanthropic sector can leverage to inform their approach to disaster preparedness and resilience.

The Philanthropy California team spoke with our friends at Catchafire, a partner of the Annenberg Foundation, Weingart Foundation, and several other California grantmakers. Catchafire provides grantmakers with custom programs to enable capacity-building and operational support at scale for nonprofits, primarily by matching them with virtual, skills-based volunteers.
